The motion picture "The Chronicles of Riddick" has been Rated PG-13 by the MPAA for intense sequences of violent action and some language. There is also some suggestive intimacy depicted. In my opinion it is not suitable for viewing by children of any age or anyone with a sensitivity to these elements.

I chose to paint this because the actor is beautiful and so are the costumes, sets, and lighting.

SPOILER

I had to do some serious homework for this one, finding the references and basically watching Chronicles of Riddick over and over. I made liberal use of Photoshop and Painter, going back and forth between the two. Riddick is mostly in a single oils layer. I didn't time it, but it was like doing roughly 12 speed paints, so probably 20 hours or so.

If you haven't seen Riddick yet, you probably aren't too too concerned with a bit of a spoiler. I actually think now that Riddick has defeated Lord Marshall, since you can keep what you kill, it only follows naturally that Riddick must become the new Lord Marshall. As such, I would love to see a sequel in which Riddick takes the Necromongers to the threshold of the underverse in order to resurrect Kyra. Of course, his heretical course of action would be cunningly opposed by Vago and his wife, Lady Macbeth.

Now you all know I am a nerd.

Very nice! I love the details overall, but especially in his face in the detail you posted. What brushes did you use to get the texture of his skin?

Thank you! Most of the face was painted with the Oily Bristle brush in the Artists Oils category. The bit of grainy texture came from a Photoshop brush that * I believe* came from a magazine tutorial. I think it is called "spatter brush" or something like that. I just picked up a dark skin tone and swabbed it over the highlights and vice versa.

Well, it looks great! I've been so busy that I've hardly had time to touch Painter recently. Seeing your awesome painting is definitely making me want to make the time!

Very nice work. It's a great likeness of him. I must admit that Chronicles of Riddick is one of my cinematic "guilty pleasures". It may not be a great film by any stretch of the imagination but I really enjoy it.

Thank you. There is a lot going on in there...

Thanks! I know what you mean. It is a quirky film. I only liked it so so when I first saw it, probably because it is so bizarre. For some reason I am hooked on it now.
